Gretchen was introduced to Traditional Chinese Medicine through her own experience as a patient. With the support of her practitioner and a commitment to consistent acupuncture treatments and herbal medicine, she felt years of chronic pain symptoms begin to soften, healing and balancing on a cellular level within her physical, mental, and spiritual being. She is inspired by the rhythms of nature and emphasizes a balance of nutrition, lifestyle, and emotions in her treatment strategies. She is passionate about working together with her patients and inspiring others to realize their unique health and wellness goals. She strives to empower her patients to take an active role in their wellness journey.

Gretchen holds a license from the Minnesota State Medical Board and is certified by the National Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). She achieved a Doctorate Degree in Acupuncture with a Chinese Herbal Medicine Specialization from Northwestern Health Sciences University. She has completed a 48 hour nutrition certification course and is passionate about educating on the effectiveness of using food as medicine to support the healing of dis-ease. She traveled to Vietnam to practice and learn Traditional Eastern Medicine. She practiced in private clinics, community clinics, and Buddhist temples and studied Eastern herbal medicine, acupuncture, and traditional treatment techniques.

Modalities used by Gretchen include: acupuncture, scalp acupuncture, facial acupuncture, auricular acupuncture, electric acupuncture, cupping, Guasha (dermal friction technique), Tuina (Chinese medical massage), orthopedic needling, moxibustion, Chinese herbal medicine, and dietary therapy. She has a special interest in treating pain, mental health, women’s health, and digestive health. She welcomes all ages into her clinic!

Before dedicating her life to Traditional Medicine, she worked for 13 years with children and young adults with a diagnosis of autism and other developmental diagnoses. She supported these children in developing their communication, motor, self-care, social, and self awareness skills. She also supported their well being with dietary therapy and art therapy. She saw and experienced firsthand how stress, emotional dysregulation, inadequate nutrition, depression, and anxiety can cause physical and emotional imbalances, which in turn leads to chronic secondary dis-ease. She understands and empathizes with her patients, developing comprehensive and effective treatment plans for each individual situation.

In her personal life, Gretchen enjoys painting and being creative, gardening, hiking, yoga and qigong, music, adventuring with her husband and dogs, being in the forest and near water, and cooking.
